iMessage rivals Blackberry Messenger

Apple has created a new messaging service called iMessage, which is supposed to rival the extremely popular Blackberry Messenger. iMessage allows all iOS 5 users to send unlimited texts messages via Wifi or 3G on your iPhone, iTouch or iPad to anyone with those devices. It is built in to the messages app, so you can also send photos and videos. There is also group messaging, and like Blackberry Messenger, there are optional delivery and read receipts, and you can see when someone is typing. So will this new Apple product rival the much acclaimed Blackberry Messenger? We'll just have to wait and see.

Worrying times for Blackberry: Problems with BBM spread to US

The latest development follows two days of blackouts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Users began to report loss of services on Wednesday, with many turning to Twitter to complain about their lack of email. This has left Blackberry owners with only the ability to call and text, leaving Blackberry addicts to descend into madness. The Blackberry's owner, RIM, has blamed the problem on core and back-up switch failures; the cause is believed to be due to server problems at Slough's data centre. As news of the failure in the US spread, one user tweeted: "What is the status here in the USA? I am in New York and there seems to be no email service."
Many users have been complaining and Blackberry are seeing sales dip to rivals Apple and the new iMessage, which comes with the new iPhone 4S. A bad sign, as Blackberry is down on the day that Apple releases iMessage. This would be an incentive for Blackberry users to jump to Apple, especially with the iPhone 4S being released on Friday.

The New iPhone 4S

So, we all might have been a little disappointed to hear that the new iPhone isn't the iPhone 5, but it seems that the new iPhone 4S is just as good. In a previous post I mentioned some of the features which we might have wanted in the awaited iPhone 5, but the iPhone 4S seems to have many of those features.

Apple have added a new system called Siri, which allows you to send text messages with your voice.
The camera has been upgraded to 8 megapixels, with new 1080 hp HD video recording and they have used the Dual Core A5 chip which they used in the iPad 2, which will make it 2x faster and make the graphics 7x faster. It has the new iMessage, which is supposed to rival Blackberry Messenger. The new iCloud stores and wirelessly pushes your content to your other devices. iOS 5 is also included, a notification centre, and over 200 more features.

England that was disappointing

Disappointing England, so many errors. We've lost to France. Enough said.
Steve Jobs
1955-2011

'Apple has lost a visionary and creative, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.'

What we all want the iPhone 5 to be like

As the 5th generation of the iPhone is on the verge of being released, and with all the speculations spreading on the Internet about the iPhone 5, people are anticipating and desperately waiting for the launch of the smartphone. Many fans and current Apple iPhone consumers are wondering what groundbreaking features Apple will add to the new iPhone 5.

Although Apple does not reveal the exact specifications and features until the device is officially unveiled, we could guess some of the main features that are expected. However, rumor of the new iPhone 5 features, in terms of both hardware and software upgrades, will definitely tempt any smartphone buyer.
The upcoming phone is expected to sport the Apple’s latest A5 processor chip, iCloud service, higher-resolution camera, and a 4-inch screen size. Here are some of the most anticipated iPhone 5 features:

Apple announced iOS 5.0 and its features during the WWDC 2011 keynote address on June 6, 2011. It is expected to come with more than 200 new features that will include improved Notification System, News Stand and iMessage.
iMessage is an application that is developed to compete with Blackberry Messenger. The app will allow iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad users to communicate (much like a chat service) with each other. The iMessage feature has been integrated into the SMS/MMS application used originally on the iPhone models.

The iPhone5 is expected to have the iCloud service.
Apple’s iPhone 5 is expected to feature the new iCloud service for wireless remote access of music from all computers and mobile devices.

Apple A5 Processor to power iPhone 5

iPhone 5 might house the A5 as the main processor, which is the same chip that currently powers the iPad 2.
The iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera, so maybe the new iPhone might have a better camera. Along with that, the iPhone 5 is expected to have a front-facing camera for video chatting.

There hasn’t been a better screen quality since the release of the iPhone 4. Currently the iPhone 4 has a 3.5 inches screen size, and sources indicate that Apple might stay locked with the current size. But a few other sources say that Apple is planning to increase the screen size to 4-inch with higher screen resolution.

Many U.S. schools replacing textbooks with iPads

Stephanie Reitz of Associated Press reports on the growing use of iPad in public secondary school classrooms this fall, noting a “move away from textbooks in favor of the lightweight tablet computers.” Educator benefits range from using iPad for interactive demonstrations of math solutions to teaching children with autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. Principal Patrick Larkin of Boston’s Burlington High School calls iPad a better long-term investment than textbooks, saying, “The bottom line is that the iPads will give our kids a chance to use much more relevant materials.”
Will these decisions trigger thoughts and act as a domino effect, and will tablets gradually begin to replace textbooks in schools, just as some tablets might replace the good old newspapers? What will this mean? In twenty years will tablets have replaced all forms of books and paperwork? One thing is for sure, you can definitely carry much more on a tablet than any bag can. And an tablet is about the size of a book. In fifty years will everything in the world be run on operating systems?
So, as the wait for Apples iPhone five lengthens, we're getting a few more ideas over what we want it to be like. Rumours have been flying thick and fast for months.
Many people seem to want a longer battery life, bigger screen and a faster processor. Maybe the A5 processor from the iPad 2 may be added. A better reception maybe, sometimes the apple reception can be a bit slow.
But finally Apple has finally unveiled the date of a conference on October 4th, where the company will almost certainly unveil the iPhone 5.
The invitation hints that it will be one phone that is announced, which is likely to be the iPhone 5 rather than the much-discussed iPhone 4s.
